Mercedes W12 Test: Doriane Pin Becomes First Woman to Drive Mercedes F1 Car at Silverstone

Doriane Pin, the 2025 F1 Academy champion, became the first female driver to test a Mercedes Formula 1 car when she drove the 2021 Mercedes W12 at Silverstone and received a supportive message from F1 Academy managing director Susie Wolff.

Susie Wolff described the day as "special," advised Pin to build up to lap times, trust the engineers and enjoy sections like Maggotts-Becketts, and noted how fast the car is in a straight line. Wolff added the team would be "rooting for you from a distance."

Doriane Pin called Wolff's message "very nice," said working with Mercedes and F1 Academy taught her a great deal, and described Susie Wolff as an inspiration as she completed her first Formula 1 drive.
