Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa confirmed at Nissan's Yokohama headquarters that a new GT-R is in development.
Espinosa did not provide technical details but said the GT-R will retain the credibility and credentials of the name, and he praised Akashi-san's team for its technical work.
Nissan USA’s chief product planner Ponz Pandikuthira previously told media at the New York Auto Show that the GT-R would return to the lineup "without a doubt." The R35 GT-R ended production in 2024 after two special editions closed its 17-year run.
Espinosa indicated the next GT-R may include some hybridization, and he said Nissan could explore additional sports cars such as a Silvia-like model, though no details or timetable were confirmed.
