Nissan Trims Lineup to 45, Reorganizes Into Four Families and Plans Hybrid GT‑R by 2030

Nissan unveiled a long-term strategic plan to reduce its global model count from 56 to 45, group vehicles into four families, and focus on the U.S., Japan and China while integrating next‑generation technology including AI.

Nissan said the four families — Heartbeat, Core, Growth and Partner — will share platforms, powertrains and software; Heartbeat will protect icons such as the Z and GT‑R and include the Xterra and the new Skyline (the U.S. Infiniti Q50).

A company representative told The Drive the next‑generation GT‑R is planned as a hybrid for 2030 that retains the VR38 block, and Nissan said the Rogue/X‑Trail will receive the e‑Power series‑hybrid system.

Nissan said three core families, including a frame‑based group, should account for about 80% of volume with roughly 20% outside them; the company will pursue Partner collaborations and aims for 1 million U.S. sales per year by 2030.
