Ocean’s Prequel Set at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix; Bradley Cooper to Write-Direct

Warner Bros. showcased that the untitled Ocean's prequel will be set around the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix and will star Margot Robbie with Bradley Cooper, who will write and direct.

Margot Robbie, speaking at Warner Bros.' CinemaCon, said the film will show Danny Ocean's parents in their prime pulling off an "epic heist" at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix. The untitled film is expected to be released in June 2027 and Bradley Cooper will write and direct while also starring.

Few production details are available, but fan reaction referenced past Monaco Grand Prix tie-ins such as Jaguar Racing's 2004 partnership with Steinmetz that embedded diamonds in the nose cones of cars driven by Mark Webber and Christian Klien. Christian Klien crashed on the opening lap and, when mechanics later recovered the wrecked car, the diamond was reported missing.
