Volvo V70 Test Drive at M&r Motors Catches Fire in Rossville; No Injuries

A Volvo V70 being test-driven from M&R Motors in Rossville, Georgia, caught fire yesterday while customer Marie Woods and her daughter Leonna Tutt were inside, and both escaped without injury.

Woods said the dashboard began smoking within half a mile of the dealership and she pulled the car into an empty parking lot as flames grew; the passenger door was reported stuck, delaying exit for Leonna Tutt until they could get out. A bystander used a small fire extinguisher but the fire spread too quickly and the Volvo was destroyed.

Woods said the dealership salesman refused to apologize and told her to leave; M&R Motors issued a statement expressing concern, saying it is reviewing what happened and working with its insurance company. Local 3 News reported Woods' account and confirmed no injuries were reported.
