Cleetus McFarland’s ARCA Race at Kansas Ends After Engine Failure and Oil Spill

Garrett Mitchell, known online as Cleetus McFarland, suffered an engine failure that dumped oil on the frontstretch and ended his ARCA Menards Series race at Kansas Speedway, leaving him 20th and marking his second DNF in six national ARCA starts.

After qualifying was rained out and he started 25th, Cleetus McFarland moved through the field to as high as seventh before the engine began to go sour and failed with about 25 laps remaining; the oil caused Andy Jankowiak and Isabella Robusto to crash and officials displayed a red flag to clean the track.

Cleetus McFarland kept his car from major damage while sliding through Turns 1 and 2, then stopped and acknowledged the result, saying the run felt positive after completing 75 laps and calling it "a win."

Friend and content creator George Siciliano, known as Squirrel McNut, finished 12th one lap down, and both Cleetus McFarland and George Siciliano are scheduled to return for next weekend's ARCA race at Talladega Superspeedway.
