BMW Ends U.S. IX Sales as It Shifts to Neue Klasse EV Platform

BMW will end U.S. sales of the iX electric SUV as it transitions to the Neue Klasse platform, a BMW spokesperson told Jalopnik after BMWBlog first reported the news.

BMW said it is moving away from CLAR-architecture vehicles like the iX and i4 in favor of Neue Klasse EVs, and that the iX3 will be the first Neue Klasse model to come to the U.S.; the iX remains available while dealer supplies last and will continue in other markets.

BMW reported nearly 51,000 iX sales through 2025, with a 2023 peak of 17,301 and declining volumes since, and cited high owner satisfaction in recent JD Power data.

BMW described the iX as a technological showcase and said concluding U.S. allocation prepares the company for its next generation of fully electric vehicles.
