Cabin Air Filter Neglect Linked to Nausea and Dizziness, TikTok Creator Warns

Content creator Jaleesa Diggs posted a TikTok showing a severely clogged cabin air filter and said the condition caused odors, nausea and dizziness when she rode in the car.

Diggs said she was given the vehicle and found a leaf and heavy buildup in the filter, adding that the smell appeared whenever she activated the windshield washer fluid and that she felt dizzy and nauseous each time she entered the car.

AAA notes the cabin air filter sits in the HVAC ductwork and traps dust, pollen, mold spores, soot, insects and rodent droppings before air reaches occupants, and the Filter Manufacturers Council estimates about 40 million Americans suffer allergies caused or worsened by airborne particulates.

Jiffy Lube says most manufacturers recommend replacing the cabin air filter at regular intervals; Jaleesa Diggs said she ordered a new filter and urged others to "change that mfer" in her post.
