Donut Lab Solid‑State Battery Claims Challenged After Criminal Report, Verge Motorcycles Launch Scrutinized

Lauri Peltola, co‑founder and former Chief Commercial Officer at Nordic Nano, has filed a criminal report alleging that Donut Lab’s claims about its Donut Battery — announced with Verge Motorcycles as the world’s first production solid‑state battery — are exaggerated and unproven, Helsingin Sanomat reports.

Donut Lab has promoted the Donut Battery as offering 400 Wh/kg energy density, five‑minute charging, more than 100,000 cycles, lower cost than lithium and 100 percent green materials, but Helsingin Sanomat says tests and videos have not validated those key specifications.

Peltola’s complaint accuses Donut Lab of misleading communication and of misrepresenting its ability to mass‑produce the battery, asserting that the promised performance, charge cycles and degradation figures have not been achieved.

The dispute comes amid broader industry efforts to commercialize solid‑state batteries, and Donut Lab and Verge Motorcycles’ early production claim is now under close scrutiny while those wider technical and manufacturing challenges continue.
