Mercedes: Doriane Pin Becomes First Woman to Test a Mercedes F1 Car at Silverstone

Mercedes development driver Doriane Pin, the 2025 F1 Academy champion, completed her first Formula 1 test at Silverstone driving the team's 2021 W12 for 76 laps (200 km).

Mercedes driver development adviser Gwen Lagrue said the session was "even more unique" as Pin became the first woman to drive a Mercedes F1 car and called her an inspiration, while Mercedes trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin praised her preparation and professionalism.

Doriane Pin described the experience as "unreal," saying the W12 felt bigger and more powerful than other cars she had driven and that she built confidence lap after lap; George Russell and Kimi Antonelli were seen supporting her in the garage.

Pin continues to serve as a Mercedes development driver alongside other racing commitments, and Gwen Lagrue said she expects a woman to reach Formula 1 in the coming years and that Mercedes would be "incredibly proud" if that happened within their team.
